Jazz Camp for Strings 2026 — Gateway Music Outreach

We’re excited to share this special summer opportunity in partnership with Gateway Music Outreach!

Jazz Camp for Strings 2026 introduces middle school string students to the fundamentals of jazz in an engaging, supportive, and culturally responsive learning environment. Designed specifically for violin, viola, cello, and bass students, the program explores swing feel, jazz articulation, rhythm, and guided improvisation — with no prior jazz experience required.

Camp Details

Dates: Fridays — June 6, 13, 20, and 27, 2026
Time: 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Location: Jazz St. Louis
Who: Rising 6th–8th grade students

What Students Will Learn

Swing feel and jazz articulation
Jazz rhythm and style
Guided improvisation
Ensemble playing in a supportive group setting
