The SLSO invites E. Desmond Lee Fine Arts Education Collaborative schools to be the first to apply for this exciting new program. At select Friday Morning Classical Concerts, stay after the performance for free lunch and inspiring programming for your music students, grades 8+. Students will engage with professionals and connect with their peers from other schools.

First, pick your experience and then request tickets to the Friday Morning Classical Concert by emailing Limited free tickets and subsidized transportation may be available this school year.

After you’re acquired your concert tickets, complete the corresponding post-concert activities application. Availability for post-concert activities is limited. Priority is given to schools in the E. Desmond Lee Fine Arts Education Collaborative at UMSL until October 2. 

There are 3 Friday Morning Classical Concert experiences to choose from:

Friday, November 17: Hear young superstar violinist Randall Goosby play Korngold’s Violin Concerto and then learn from him about his musical journey to the concert hall stage.

Friday, December 1: Bring your woodwind students to hear SLSO Principal Oboe Jelena Dirks play Vaughan Williams’s Oboe Concerto and then stick around for a full day of woodwind-specific workshops and collaborative music making. This experience is designed for students playing woodwind instruments. Flute, clarinet, saxophone, oboe, and bassoon students should bring their instruments!


Friday, February 17: Enjoy music by two Black, female composers and hear Augustin Hadelich perform Barber’s Violin Concert. After the concert, learn what it takes to make a career in the arts from the professionals onstage, backstage, and in the office.

All concerts begin at 10:30am at the Touhill Performing Arts Center at UMSL.
