At the Saint louis Art mueseum on October 19th from 9:30 am to 2 pm, we will have a workshop with Yacouba Sissoko, who is a master kora player from the djeli tradition in Mali. Djelis are the musical storytellers in West Africa, a position that is inherited through a family bloodline. As part of the workshop, Yacouba will give a musical performance, share stories and experiences from his life, discuss the making of the kora instrument, and teach participants a song.
